My home button will not work on Samsung Captivate worked fine then stopped working, also when you go to turn the pone off all of my options dissapeared except power off, now I cant even lock my phone. PLS help. running 2.2

I have a Samsung Galaxy S (Captivate) from AT&T which syncs to our Microsoft Exchange Server. When I set it up in January, I imported all my Outlook contacts and set them up to sync.

While the Outlook calendar syncs both ways (i.e., whether I make the change on my phone or on my computer, it syncs to both devices), the contacts do not. If I add a contact on my phone, it gets added to the Outlook contact list, but if I add a new contact to Outlook from my desktop, the new contact never appears on the phone. Changes made on the phone to an existing Outlook contact are also synced, but changes made in Outlook never appear in the phone.

I have checked all the settings and cannot find anything that would allow me to change this one-way syncing.

Also, when I make a change to a contact on the Captivate, it changes the display in Outlook for that entry from "Jones, Tony" to "Tony Jones" even though I display the contacts ‘Last Name, First Name’ on both the Captivate and in Outlook. Nothing appears to have caused that change. If I open the contact in Outlook, the "File as" box still shows as "Jones, Tony" but until I open make some minor change and re-save the contact, it appears in all views as "Tony Jones"

in trying to get 2.2 on my phone, got into the wifi settings.
touched my home wifi and got the info box. didn’t have what
I was looking for and I touched the "forget" tab. Now I have lost
all wifi and my phones ip address. Anyone out there that can help this poor soul?

My Captivate is Running Froyo and has been since its release. Today when showing my friend the new home screen options, the bit where you pinch the screen and it lets you add, move and delete home screens. after adding a few home screens my phone activated all of my apps, once i got that under control it would only switch between 3 different ones, no home screen, no nothing, and now it will do that randomly, my only choice is to hard restart. Another big issue is that when i try and change my home screens now it crashes my phone and often needs a restart after that, whether its just frozen, or has opened all my apps again.
So i am wondering has anyone had this issue, and will a factory reset fix this problem, cause that’s all i can seem to do at this moment.

Hi. I have tried numerous times to root my Captivate. I keep getting the same message:

This is the first disk in a backup set, please insert the last disk of this set.

Can anyone help me with this problem?

How long does the 2.2 download take? I been watching the Andriod in the yellow icon with the word download under it for the last 2 hours. AT&T captivate

I have a new Samsung Galaxy S (Captivate) from AT&T and have set it up to connect to my work email (Exchange 2010 SP1). I noticed in the tabbed folder list at the top (what an inefficient way to display folders) that certain folders from my Exchange mailbox do not show up. Furthermore, if I try to search for content in those folders or move emails to those folders they are not available as a selection option. There doesn’t seem to be any rhyme or reason to which folders the Captivate decides to sync. In fact, a subfolder of one of the nonexistent folders does appear in the list but not the parent folder.

Any thoughts on this?

I’ve tried K-9 mail but it doesn’t support Exchange 2010. I also tried TouchDown but, while all my folders do appear, I don’ believe I should have to pay $20 for functionality that should already be there in the first place and that previously worked fine on my 2.1 Motorola Backflip.

I rooted my Captivate, and applied the Voodoo LagFix. Everything was fine until I tried to use the phone as a flash drive on a high end copier. Suddenly I cannot connect to Windows. The phone charges, but I get an error that says the USB device is not recognized, and there is no USB symbol on the phone. Same issue on multiple machines. I would like to revert to the stock ROM, but without USB, I can’t even use Odin3.

A few questions:

1. Where can I find a stock ROM in update.zip format? I can FTP it to the phone, reboot into recovery and get it back that way.
2. Is there an app that will reinstall USB drivers on the phone, so don’t have to use #1?
3. Does anyone have any other ideas?

So this morning I got to msg a friend and I get a popup that says my trial version of swype has expired. I’m running dorians ugjk3 gingerbread. I did a brief search and found some other people with the same problem starting this morn. Any tips? How do I get swype back?

Okay I have tried everything under the sun. I can not get around this stupid " Unregistered Device " error on Kies to upgrade my captivate to official 2.2. I had one of Dorian,s firmware and trust me those very easy to install comparing to official. Why am I trying to go back to official? because I need my phone to be stable. I used my phone in the line of business that I am working so when phone lags for any reason my job slows down. Anyway back to this problem. I reset the phone with ODIN3 then do master reset to wipe everything. I download the KIES for captivate. I even register my device on Samsung website and redo the ODIN3 one click. reinstall the phone drivers use debugging on and off, use kies connection as default or with option when connect. I can not get around this error. Please anybody knows what to do help me. thank you.
