Normally this forum is Dorian’s domain coming out with custom ROMS but I wanted to share with everyone the way to get the new stock Gingerbread for our Captivates. This is not an I9000 port, this is for our phones!!
THE BIGGEST THING TO KNOW IS THAT YOU NEED TO FLASH BACK TO ORIGINAL STOCK BECAUSE BOOTLOADERS ARE DIFFERENT THAN I9000!!!

The new bootloader is just like Froyo was before it, in that you don’t need to flash i9000 bootloaders anymore to switch back and forth from i9000 and Captivate ROM’s. You just have to install the ROM packages.
- If you have the Captivate GB Bootloader you can go i9000 ROM or Captivate ROM without having to flash bootloaders.
- If you have i9000 bootloaders, and plan on staying on Gingerbread for a while, flash the Captivate bootloader. It brings back the 3-button recovery, if you had it to begin with.
- If you’re using CM7, stay on the Froyo bootloader. I’m not sure if it’s compatible with any Gingerbread bootloader yet…
If there is any confusion or something is not clear, ASK!

1) Download Firmware from http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-samsungusa.htm
2) Flash back to stock JF6 w/ odin one-click and did a master clear.
3) Flash Gingerbread KF1 using Odin (see image attached)
4) Flash fugu kernel http://forum.xda-developers.com/show….php?t=1010141 (Root kernel if link does not work http://www.multiupload.com/A4GDWX57Q1)
In the first post look for and select the download link in step 2: (credit to nikademus)
How to use:
1: Flash the stock ROM
2: Download the image for Heimdall or for Odin
3: Flash it with either Odin or Heimdall
4: Boot once, it will install root and crash/shutdown (it is preferred to let the phone connected to usb so it does not loop boot)
5: Reflash the original kernel
5) Flash stock kernel found in the link (credit to lownox for helping me on that) http://www.multiupload.com/HT35L405C0
6) Settings>Applications> enable Unknown Sources (AT&T finally got something right)
7) Flash kernel from Designgears to have CWM http://www.multiupload.com/H39ENVJR7L
Install Superuser from market https://market.android.com/details?i…=search_result
9) Install busybox from market https://market.android.com/details?i…=search_result
10) ENJOY!
