I am always getting download unsuccessful from Market. I have a Samsung Captive galaxy S with 2.1 EclairI have been through the clear data, cache in market, checkin service, and many other apps. So, if you reply with this nonsense I will not read it. This solution did nothing to help me. I removed apps thinking that perhaps I have too much installed. Nothing helped here. I did the ridiculous idea of removing the update to Market. So if this idea comes back, I already said I have tried this. Now I am using the default market version. Real helpful. No help there. I still cannot successfully download from Market. So where have these solutions benefited me? It is likely that those who are being helped by them have something different going on or the solution is really a placebo. So if someone has any suggestion that is a real solution instead of a placebo I would be interested. I was on Samsung’s live chat for the issue, and it was a long live chat. I found that I could not update my OS because I was not able to get the Kies to run on my stupid windows 7 laptop. Live Chat suggested that I do a factory reset or call in for support. With no backup of my pics it is a great welcomed idea. We went down this avenue of trying the OS upgrade to see if maybe the update from 2.1 Eclair to the 2.3 Version OS (I think) would solve this problem. No, it was not helpful. In fact I was not able to run the upgrade Kies software (runs on 32 bit only not 64 bit Oses). Nor was I able to ‘see’ my phone on the computer (the driver cannot be installed correctly). Maybe there is a hardware issue. Who knows. At this point I am getting very frustrated with the android platform and/or the samsung phone and the nonworking solutions. It seems lots of ideas for fixing the issue are just placebos when perhaps some cannot download due to Market connectivity or their own service connectivity issues. I have been through many steps and efforts and this phone will require a factory reset to fix so I am told. I guess I lose my pics in the process. What a horrible way to fix this issue. Does anyone have any idea how to fix this?????????????????????

Thanks

I just flashed teamhacksung’s CM9 ALPHA for Captivate (BUILD 16) today and am very happy with the performance:

[ROM][ICS][IML74K] teamhacksung’s CM9 ALPHA for Captivate (BUILD 16) – xda-developers

Previously I was running the latest nightly build of CM7.1, ie, cm_captivatemtd_full-181.zip. Last week I tried flashing Team ICSSGS [Android 4.0.3] RC4 twice, and had to go back to CM7.1 due to slow performance in general and browser slowness in particular. Then today I found the teamhacksung’s CM9, and tried it, and is impressed by its performance on my more than 1 year old captivate.

The installation is very easy for me upgrading from CM7.1. The only thing to keep in mind is, after flashing the zip file from the download link on the xda page:

update-cm-9.0.0-RC0-Captivate-KANG-BUILD16-signed.zip

ROM Manager was unable to download Google Apps, so before flashing the zip file, download Google Apps from Rom Manager. Once these two zip files are on internal sdcard, follow the original instructions on the xda page to flash the update file, then repeat the step for Google Apps except skipping WIPE (wipe data/factory reset + wipe cache partition).

Before I started upgrading, I backed up my apps and data using MyBackup. Afterwards, all the apps and data can be restored. The only thing not restore is Adndroid Home, and maybe System Settings as well. Other than that, things are very smooth. One added benefit for me is my phone is now able to connect to computers with the USB cable, a problem I had for a few months without knowing why. I had just copied a folder over 4GB from my phone to a PC. Previously just copying a small file would disconnect the USB.

I currently have a Samsung Captivate (SGH-i897). I love this phone and have not had any serious issues till now. I am running 2.2 and all was well until one day I noticed that my phone was three hours off. It is as if the time lags out. However I can put the phone in airplane mode, wait a minute and once I turn it off the problem is fixed for roughly 20-30 minutes. I’ve also noticed that if I leave it plugged into the charger it does not have this issue. So I took out the battery, did a factory restore but today I snapped when it happened again. I thought to connect to the PC and check for updates but my PC won’t even recognize the phone. So I did a hard reset and it seemed to work for about an hour and now it is doing it again I am about to cast Firaga on my phone! It is a minor issue considering everything works as normal but it causes my text messages to get out of sync and makes it impossible to use as an alarm clock!

Please help me! I am sorry if I somehow missed a forum topic about this but I google’d and searched forums with no luck

I am curious about what the best way is, to back up everything (all apps, data, etc.) from my phone, and if it’s possible to selectively restore certain apps and data back to the phone. I have a second-hand Captivate which is still running 2.1 (eclair) firmware, and the previous owner put a picture on the phone as a wallpaper, and I’d like to perform a factory data reset, and still be able to get the apps and data and everything back afterwards.

I rooted the phone already, so I should be able to do anything necessary with the phone to back it up. I looked around through the forums, but the more I search, the more confused I get about how to perform a backup of everything on the phone.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Situated in the heart of the rolling Buckinghamshire countryside, Magnolia Park has been ten years in the making and is the culmination of a lifetime’s vision ping g20 fairway wood by the owner, John Walters.

No expense has been spared here and in his own admission, Mr Walters says that it could have cost him far less had he so wished. But patience, a keen eye for detail and a dedicated team of greenkeepers and administration staff, all having their personal input into the taylormade r9 fairway wood project, is now beginning to pay dividends.

Because of its location near The Oxfordshire, home of the Benson and Hedges International, the standard had to be high to compete with its illustrious neighbour. The course, created by up and coming designer Jonathan Gaunt, provides a stern, but fair mizuno mp 69 for players of all abilities.

Each hole offers a selection of tees and a plethora of options for pin placements on the immaculately prepared USGA specification greens. With discount golf in mind, the course can take on many guises from a gentle undulating parkland course with numerous scoring opportunities to an absolute brute from the back tees at 6873-yards with wind and some sadistic pin locations.

After a gentle par-five start, teeing from an island, the 163-yard par-3 second hole demands laser precision from the tee over the discount golf lake to a slim, well-contoured green.

There is another par five at the third followed by the 428-yard fourth hole. Into the wind, a par at this hole will feel like a birdie, miss the green in the wrong place here, expect a high number. There is little respite on the outward nine, with only one par four under r11 irons released by taylormade 300-yards and the others at well over 400-yards, predominately into the wind.

Pick of the holes on the front nine is the Par-five eighth measuring 529-yards from the medal plates, with a left to right slope all the way to the well defended and callaway razr x hl irons extremely fast sloping green. Precision is the key to this hole coupled with a sound short game. And if you dare miss the green with your approach shot, you may need the assistance of prayer to get up and down.

The start of the back nine offers a few scoring chances, especially the tenth and 12th and 14th. All are under 400-yards. But to make birdie, like every other taylormade r11 driver hole on the course, you must find the correct parts of the greens. They are huge and heavily undulating, reminiscent of links golf and when they are close cropped, downhill putts take on the marble staircase effect.

The closing holes are worthy of any championship finish. The 448-yard par four 15th tests your mettle and the 16th places a premium on hitting the fairway for a long iron discount golf approach into yet another sloping green.

The Par-three 17th at 175-yards seems like an optical illusion from the tee. Trust your yardage and fire away, just avoid the bunker to the right and you should be OK. The 18th is the ping k15 irons mother of all par fives. At 536-yards into the wind, with one of the many lakes all down the left, it may take as much as a four-iron for your third shot into a two-tiered green, over water again. What a finish!
